Hej dear readers!

Todays post has for goal to make you discover the North of Sweden - Lappland. At least part of it, as I have so much to say that I will split it into two parts :-) So, on the first of January, I took the plane to Kiruna, the Northernmost town of Sweden. After 1h30 of trip, my 6 friends and me arrived there, and the first surprise we had was the temperature: it was quite "warm" for the location, around -5°C!

Then, we headed for our hostel, and we went walking in the town during the first night and the first "day" (we never saw the sun directly during these 5 days ^^). We visited the wooden church, the town hall and went icekating. That was (nearly) a discovery for me, and I fell several times, but make a lot of progress. I could have stayed there the whole day!

Kiruna

On the second day, we headed for Abisko national park, where we had rent a whole cabin for the 6 of us, like a little "chalet" in the mountain. It was really nice, and we had a good view on the surrounding mountains and the huuuuuge lake down the hill. There, we went cross-country skiing, another discovery for me, this time a true one! So, from dawn to dusk (which means from 9am to 2pm), we were wandering through the hills, going up, down and falling quite a lot of times for the three beginners of the group! Here are some proofs, otherwise some would probably not believe me XD

Skiing in Abisko

On the evening, we rested, renaming the region "Nappland" for some time. It's impressive how tired you become when it's dark nearly all the time! To stay in a good mood, we did what people usually do when they want to have a good time together: we preparred food and drinks in our little cabin! And we don't joke with it : cheese, saucisson, foie gras and

were here for our stomachs and spirits. What?? you don't know what it is?? I didn't eitherr. But that, was before. In fact, you basically boil some alcohol and spices, and set fire to a sugar cone soaked in Rhum just above it, and then you drink. I have to admit I don't really appreciate warm alcohols, but the making of it is pure fun ^^ Here are some pics to give you an idea.
