Kia Ora folks !
Today, I'm going to write on the unexpected Sunday I spent in Raglan one week ago. Unexpected because it was a weekend I had planned to spend at home to save some money before going to the south Island. And in the end, a friend asked me if I wanted to go to Raglan as they were renting a car. I evidently said yes, and embarked on a day trip to the surfers' town.
We spent the morning driving and walking on a small mountain / big hill from where we had a beautiful view over the ocean. It's colour was amazing : deep and vivid blue, I had never seen it like this before. Then we went to the beach, were we swam and walked along the shore. The beach was an isolated one, with nearly no one around, and the waves were really powerful !

After that, we went to Raglan itself, a little town on the coast, famous for being a surfing heaven. And it seems quite true : the different beaches had been invaded by surfers, and there were also tourists around. We visited the tiny centre and went for a walk along the shore. It seems to be a really nice place to live, a bit like Mt Maunganui, where no one's in a hurry and where time seems to go by slowly, if it even goes by ;) Very relaxing !
Sightseeing at the Falls
Some guys working with us at Uni live in Raglan, and had their housewarming party that night, so we went back to Raglan for it (another unexpected but really cool event). On the road, we stopped at a corner to watch the sun setting over the hills. It was amazing, and had some flavour of road trip : a desert road surrounded by hills, the sun shining in the distance and covering everything in yellow. And the orange road signs, everything was there :) The rest of the evening was super cool, and we came back to Hamilton during the night.
I wish I had unexpected trips more often !
See you
