Down from the door where it all began - part 2

Well, well, well, after a very bad night (I caught some cold hiking just before going, I let you imagine ....) I left my beloved Normandy to go to the airport. By car ! Indeed, my wonderful uncle (it's not actually my uncle but anyway, let's just continue :-)) had accepted to take me there. So after 2h30 of driving, we arrived at the airport. I had never realised how big it was ! At least 5 times the size of the well known village of Sainte-Gauburge-Sainte-Colombe where I live ....

As it was only my third time travelling by plane, it took me some time to remember where to go and what to do. Hopefully there was a bunch of air hostesses ready to answer to any question people could have .....

And then, all of a sudden, it was the time. The time to go. To say farewell (well, at least goodbye) to my family (my poor mum :'( :'( :'( :'( ^99) and go into that glittering brand new (I actually hope it is) aircraft that would soon take me to the far North....

It is indeed a strange thing to realize that you are actually leaving your home country for a whole year .... You've been dreaming of it for months and then you just hesitate a bit when you become aware of the importance of such a trip.... Hopefully it was just a matter of seconds, and then it became exciting again to discover all those wonderful and unknown (to me at least) places.

The journey was quite nice. We first went over fields, and then crossed a first layer of these cumulothings, and then another, and then a layer of cumulonimbusstuff (it might be the contrary....) and I just realized how far above the others the forester could stand ! Indeed, from there, the clouds just looked like a beautiful, shining and immaculated forest, untouched under the blue dome of heaven (beautiful isn't it ?).

We went over fields, rivers, valleys and the sea, we crossed northern Germany and Denmark, to finally arrive to the Vikinglands : Sweden. It is one thing to imagine a landscape from a description, but it is completely different to actually see it with your own eyes. I could never had imagined one with that many lakes. WATER. EVERYWHERE, WATER. And forests (pine forestcrops would be more accurate).

We went over Stockholm, which seems to be a very nice city, not too big (unlike Paris), built on an archipelago composed of many tiny islands, linked by bridges or boats. How cool it must be to take a boat to go to work every morning instead of that stinking metro !

I finally arrived at Arlanda Airport, some 40km North of Stockholm. The first thing I realized when arriving was how quiet it was. I later learnt to enjoy this peaceful atmosphere, as the whole of Uppsala is the same : a quiet and peaceful place where life just goes on at its own pace.

From there, I headed North (again !) to Uppsala thanks to Marcus, a Swedish guy who was kind enough to come pick me up at the airport (if you read these lines, thanks again Marcus :-)). Some 30min later, I discovered Uppsala, and the place where I would live during the next 6 months : Flogsta.

And there the 'trip' to Sweden ended, in front of another door. But this amazing journey has just begun !
